Common questions

Does it work without internet?

Yes, for the parts you need most in a restaurant. Menu scanning, the built-in dish database, spice levels, preset phrases, and your order card all work in airplane mode. Translation and explanations for unusual dishes need a connection.

The camera found no dishes

Get closer, fill the frame with the menu, and give it more light. Photographing one section at a time works better than the whole menu at once. You can scan several photos in a row — dishes add up and your order is kept.

I scanned a second page and lost my order

That shouldn't happen. Your order is kept for the whole meal, across as many photos as you scan, until you tap "End meal". If it did happen, please tell us.

How do the free allowances and Passes work?

Your first 2 successful menu captures and first 30 conversation translations are free. A capture counts only when at least one dish is recognized; a translation counts only when it succeeds. Preset phrases and order cards are always free. Trip Pass adds 200 menu captures and 2,000 translations; Explorer Pass adds 500 menu captures and 5,000 translations. Both passes never expire and can be purchased again after you use the credits. Remaining counts are stored on your device.

My Pass credits are missing

Trip Pass and Explorer Pass credits are stored on your device. They are not restored or transferred if you delete the app or move to a new phone. Unlimited Pass is no longer for sale. For compatibility, an Unlimited capture entitlement already saved on your device is preserved during migration. If StoreKit redelivers a verified legacy Unlimited Pass transaction, it is applied once as 500 menu-capture credits and 5,000 translation credits. If something looks wrong, email us with the date of purchase.

A dish description looks wrong

Please tell us the dish name and what was wrong. Food information is corrected by hand, and reports genuinely help.

Allergies: ChinaCue tells you what a dish may contain, never what it doesn't. Always confirm with restaurant staff before eating. The same dish is cooked differently in every kitchen.
